Message from the Project Director

I hope this message finds you all in the best of health and spirits.

It is with immense pride and a deep sense of responsibility that I share the remarkable progress being made by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in collaboration with the Health Department, to transform and strengthen the province’s healthcare system.

Our mission to redefine healthcare delivery across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is being advanced through the establishment of the Project Management and Implementation Unit (PMIU) under the Secondary Healthcare Revamp Programme. This ambitious initiative seeks to modernize the existing healthcare system and usher in a new era of excellence, efficiency, accessibility, and quality in healthcare services.

The core objective of PMIU is clear: to provide efficient, effective, accessible, and quality healthcare facilities to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This commitment guides every decision we make, every resource we utilize, and every intervention we undertake.

Our primary focus is to enhance the standards of Non-Teaching District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospitals, transforming them into modern healthcare facilities equipped with state-of-the-art technology, improved infrastructure, advanced medical equipment, efficient management systems, and qualified healthcare professionals.

The transformation journey was initiated through a phased approach. In the first phase, 6 DHQ Hospitals were identified for comprehensive upgrading, followed by 7 hospitals in Phase II, 12 hospitals in Phase III, and 7 hospitals in Phase IV, bringing the total to 32 DHQ Hospitals across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Our interventions encompass a comprehensive range of improvements, including civil infrastructure development, modernization of biomedical equipment, implementation of Hospital Management Information Systems (HMIS), strengthening of human resources and health services, and introduction of efficient Queue Management Systems. These interventions are designed to improve not only the physical infrastructure of hospitals but also their operational efficiency, service quality, and patient experience.

The impact of these improvements will extend far beyond hospital walls, particularly benefiting communities in rural, remote, and underserved areas where access to quality healthcare has historically remained a challenge. By modernizing DHQ hospitals and integrating advanced medical technologies and management systems, we are working to bring high-quality healthcare closer to the people and ensure that every citizen has access to the services they deserve.

The dedication, professionalism, and proactive approach of the PMIU team have been instrumental in advancing this transformative agenda. Our commitment to timely implementation, effective resource utilization, transparency, and measurable results remains unwavering.
